About Alexander Youth Network

Alexander Youth Network, a 501-c-3 North Carolina nonprofit corporation, was founded in1888 in Charlotte as a women and children’s rescue mission. In 1946, the agency began serving children with emotional and behavioral problems.

Alexander is North Carolina’s leader in children’s behavioral healthcare, serving 8,800 children annually. Children are referred to us from hospitals, physicians, parents, schools, and from state and county organizations such as departments of social services, the juvenile justice system, and area mental health programs.

We have approximately 350 employees who provide outpatient, residential, and community-based services including:

- Mental Health Assessments

- Day Treatment Programs

- Outpatient Therapy

- Therapeutic Foster Care Homes

- Intensive In-Home Therapy

- Multi-Systemic Therapy

- Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility

This effective and efficient array of services enables children and their families to exercise self-determination, achieve their potential, and become positive contributors to society. Our continuum of services is designed to provide a stable progression from one level of treatment to another and we focus on cultivating valuable relationships and giving them a chance to grow.

At Alexander, we use a variety of evidence-based treatments including the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) TM , an approach to healing children who have experienced trauma. In 2009, Alexander became the first behavioral healthcare agency to be recognized as an NMT Flagship Site.

We provide quality, professional treatment that enables children and their families to exercise self-determination, achieve their potential, and become positive contributors to society.
