Mental Health Counselor- PRN- Albemarle,NC

Interested in an opportunity with a leading Mental Health organization in North Carolina?  Alexander Youth Network is looking for a Mental Health Counselor at our Millingport Day Treatment. This position is for PRN availability only (as needed- hours may vary.) PRNs may also work at any of our additional day treatments (Waxhaw, Charlotte, Shelby, Dallas, Concord) as needed. Hours will remain less than 30 hours per week.

Job Description:

SUMMARY

Manages the behavior and records the treatment progress of clients in the Day Treatment learning environment.  Coordinates service delivery by assessing the needs of the child and family and linking with appropriate services. Conducts and leads group activities to support treatment goals; ensures that the Person Centered Plan is created, modified, and reviewed as appropriate through the Child and Family Team; provides agency vehicle transportation as needed. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

Completes documentation timely and accurately

100% of documentation is submitted by end of shift and is error-free

Completes all mandated training

100% of required training will be completed within specified time frame

Provides quality services in accordance with NMT model and agency policies

Must score an average of 80% or better on Model of Care skill assessment

Maintains neat work area

Classroom inspections will receive a score of 98% or better

Adheres to TCI protocols for restrictive interventions (RIs)

Performs RIs according to TCI protocols as indicated in monthly supervision; will not have any corrective actions related to RIs

Attendance:  Has minimal occurrences of unscheduled absences or lateness

No more than 5 unscheduled events per year

QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE  Qualified Professional (QP), Bachelors degree and 2 - 4 years of experience in child mental health and/or day treatment.  Familiarity in MS Office applications preferred.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES   Age specific competency for children and adolescents, competency in the Administration of Medications, Working with Mental Health Population through utilization of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, Life Saving / Safety to include First Aid and CPR, Blood Borne Pathogens and Infection Control.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS  Valid Driver's license in state of residency.

LANGUAGE SKILLS   Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write to a prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to groups of children, managers, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in situations with little standardization.
