Our RN team provides 24/7 pediatric, residential healthcare services to 12 adolescents in a residential behavioral healthcare facility. We are the largest children's behavioral healthcare provider in NC.
Seeking those with successful paid work experience in one or more of these specialty areas: urgent/emergent care, pediatrics, psychiatric care or family practice. Must have basic Windows computer skills. EHR experience a plus.
New RN graduates with work experience in healthcare or childcare are encouraged to apply.
Federal PRTF regulations require Registered Nurses (RN) to be in PRTF ratio 24 hours a day. RN staff must monitor the milieu and all restrictive interventions to ensure the safety and welfare of PRTF clients. RN staff promotes the use of the Model of Care; manage medication, medical treatments, observe clients for any health status changes, coordinate emergent care and transport, and collaborate with Guardians to ensure each client's essential well-child healthcare needs are met during their placement in the PRTF; provide healthcare education to their PRTF Treatment Team members, clients, family members and other agency programs as needed, i.e. Medication Administration and Blood Borne Pathogen/Infection Control. Applies knowledge of child growth and development as it relates to the Model of Care; explains procedures and treatments to clients to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension through awareness of comfort and safety needs of client; demonstrates punctuality, dependability and on-call availability to work additional shifts; remains flexible to alter core scheduling when unexpected scheduling needs arise within the department; RN staff will flex to be included in the cottage or classroom ratio when the need arises.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
RN, NC licensure and at least four years RN experience in Pediatrics, Family Practice, Urgent /ER or Behavioral Healthcare experience is preferred. Proficiency in MS Office applications
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional or medical documentation, journals, governmental regulations, or legal documentation. Ability to write reports and business correspondence to a prescribed format and style. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other medical professionals, non-medical co-workers, groups of children, top managers, clients and families, volunteers, and the general public.
Competency is defined as the techniques, procedures, technology, skills or equipment needed to do one's job. The following competencies are required of this position: age specific competency for children and adolescents, competency in the Administration of Medications, phlebotomy, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, Life Saving/Safety to include First Aid and CPR; Working with Mental Health Population through utilization of crisis intervention techniques and model of care, Blood Borne Pathogens and Infection Control. Competency is defined as the techniques, procedures, technology, skills or equipment needed to do one's job.
