Interested in a leadership opportunity with a leading mental health organization in North Carolina? Alexander Youth Network is looking for qualified applicants for an Assistant Program Director position on our psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF). The PRTF is a 12-bed, co-ed facility that provides residential therapeutic treatment to adolescents ages 12-17 with mental health diagnoses.

Qualified applicants must have a valid clinical license in NC (LCSW, LPC, or LMFT) and have a minimum of two years' experience in behavioral health with children/adolescents.

SUMMARY

Assists in the supervision and implementation of the program provided through the activities of the Behavior Health Counselor by performing the follow duties. In collaboration with the ED and Licensed Clinicians, provides clinical leadership for all services delivered by the treatment team; leads the Core Assessment process and ensures follow-through on treatment recommendations; provides direct clinical services via individual sessions and family sessions; leads discharge planning and coordination, treatment team and weekly staffing meetings. May manager a caseload and fill in ratio when needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintain oversight of documentation requirements for direct reports 
  • Provides supervisory oversight to direct reports
  • Maintains active service plan on each client on clinical caseload
  • Provides positive interactions with family members, guardians, and other professionals involved in the treatment process
  • Adheres to protocols for restrictive interventions (RIs); Monitors usage of RI among staff to identify trends, address any coaching needs, and identifies opportunities for clinical staffing

  • Ensures staff facilitates appropriate activities and clinical interventions according to model of care
  • Ensures staff are compliant as it relates to completing of training requirements within specified timeframes and appropriate utilization of trained skills
  • Ensures staffing requirements are met and that timekeeping procedures are followed

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Master's Degree and two years related experience in behavioral healthcare preferred.  Must hold licensure in applicable field (LPC, LCSW, LMFT.) Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES  

Competency is defined as the techniques, procedures, technology, skills or equipment needed to do one's job.  The following competencies are required of this position:  age specific competency for children and adolescents, competency in the Administration of Medications, Restrictive Intervention Model, Life Saving/Safety to include First Aid and CPR; Working with Mental Health Population through utilization of applicable restrictive intervention and model of care. Blood Borne Pathogens and Infection Control.

LANGUAGE SKILLS  

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, governmental regulations, or legal documentation.  Ability to write reports and business correspondence to a prescribed format and style.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of children, top managers, clients and families, volunteers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
