Clinical Assessor

Alexander Youth Network is looking for a Licensed Clinician for an opportunity as a Clinical Assessor at our OPS office in Winston Salem, NC. Applicable licensure includes LPC, LMFT and LCSW, Provisional license permitted. 


Provides specialty mental health service assessments for clients to support the development of treatment plans for youth with behavioral and emotional disorders. In this role, the will be responsible for crisis intervention and limited case management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Complete assessments to determine treatment needs; assess risk to self and others
  • Determine level of care most appropriate for the client
  • Formulate a plan of treatment and coordinate referral to treatment providers
  • Provide information and referrals for a wide variety of community services
  • Crisis intervention with individuals or families to work through problems and enable them to be appropriately referred for treatment, develop crisis plans and in rare instances coordinate transfer from assessment to ER
  • Familiarity with the service definitions for all mental health services
  • Prepare assessment reports, case notes, and correspondence; compile necessary documentation for distribution 
  • Provide case management services to clients receiving behavioral health services to coordinate care with other systems, arrange for services, advocate for clients, and provide support
  • Demonstrates understanding of systems theory; cultural diversity, self determination and self-awareness issues in clinical supervision sessions
  • Development of initial Person Centered Plans for clients in need of more enhanced mental health services

MSW and two or more years related experience in behavioral healthcare. LCSW or LPC or eligibility for state certification required

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common professional journals.  Ability to respond to sensitive inquiries or complaints from clients and families, and outside treatment providers, and members of the community.  Ability to write articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to management and public groups.


LCSW or LPC licensure required. Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training (provided) and a N.C. Driver's license.
