Interested in an opportunity with a leading Mental Health organization in NC? Alexander Youth Network is looking for a Lead Behavioral Health Counselor position in our Residential Treatment Center (RTC) in Greensboro location. Qualified applicants should have a B.A. or B.S. preferably in a related human services field is preferred. Must be at least 21 years of age.
Provides, coordinates, and monitors a variety of activities by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provides milieu therapy by intervening in the life space of each child as appropriate, including behavioral intervention in accordance with Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and management of the level system.
Leads transition communications through shift change over.
Follows each individual treatment plan for every child in their care, than addresses issues related to the treatment plan accordingly.
Functions as assigned active member of the treatment review team and provides required documentation prior to reviews.
Provides direct child care as appropriate to the environment, including planning activities, serving as a role model, supervising personal hygiene, and establishing and maintaining a regular routine.
Supports Program Supervisors with tracking and collection of all completed relative paperwork including progress notes, treatment reviews, incident reports and meal counts in a timely manner.
Monitors and provides feed back to case managers and supervisors concerning the effects of individual clients' psychiatric medication and any other pertinent issues. Monitors percatuionary procedures.
Facilitates staff attendance at all required training and maintains required certification including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, First Aid/CPR and Connecting training, in a timely manner.
Administers medication to residence as prescribed by the consulting psychiatrist as needed.
Assists staff through individual and group conferences in analyzing problems and improving delivery of services.
Reviews high risk activities with involved staff through LSI to improve future performance.
Adheres to a flexible and punctual schedule providing back up support to supervisor as needed.
Facilitates smooth operation of designated program area.
Applies knowledge of child growth and development.
Uses effective internal and external communication.
Maintains the Milieu environment in a neat and orderly manner conductive to treatment and in compliance with safety, health, and infection control policies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
B.A. or B.S. preferably in a related human services field is preferred. 2 years experience in behavioral healthcare (QMHP) one year of experience working at Alexander Youth Network is preferred.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write to a prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to groups of children, managers, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fraction, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to apply common sense understanding and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in situations with little standardization.
Competency is defined as the techniques, procedures, technology, skills or equipment needed to do one's job. The following competencies are required of this position; Age specific competency for children and adolescents, competency in the Administration of Medications, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, Life Saving / Safety to include First Aid and CPR; Working with Mental Health Population through utilization of TCI and Love & Logic , Blood Borne Pathogens and Infection Control.

Valid NC or SC Driver's license.
