What you would do:

Alexander Youth Network is seeking for a cook to work in our on- site cafeteria in Charlotte, NC. We are looking for PRN staff with some weekend availability. PRN staff are as-needed and schedules will fluctuate. Prepares and cooks nutritional, balanced meals for residents and employees of center by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensures availability of quality meals for clients and staff in a timely manner
  • Ability to fill out routine reports and place orders in the absence of the Food Service Manager.
  • Prepares food and carts for delivery according to specified time schedule
  • Ensures cleanliness of entire food service area and equipment by following Food Service Manager's daily clean- up schedule.
  • Practices correct food handling and food storage procedures according to state and Federal regulations
  • Demonstrates appropriate customer interaction.
  • Ensures availability of supplies and operation of equipment by notifying Food Service Manager of necessary orders and maintenance requests 
  • Completes all mandated training
  • Attendance:  Has minimal occurrences of unscheduled absences or lateness

QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Less than high school education; and 1 years kitchen experience or training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
