Mental Health Counselor (PRN)- Bolivia, NC

Looking for a part-time opportunity with a leading non-profit focused on serving children and families?  Alexander Youth Network is looking for both Qualified Mental Health professionals (QMHP) and Associate Mental Health professionals (AMHP) to work in our Bolivia Day Treatment as needed. This position works directly in the classroom with elementary-aged children.

We are looking for Full-Time and/or PRN staff only at this time. PRN hours may fluctuate between 8-29 hours per week on an as needed basis.

Assist the QP in a variety of direct care activities for clients in the day treatment environment; in accordance with the NMT model ensures consistent and appropriate activities, therapeutic activities, clinical interventions, and staffing and treatment planning.  Ensures a clean and safe environment for clients; offers appropriate intervention services to build upon strengths and address identified functional problems of the complex condition of each child/adolescent and family; provides agency vehicle transportation of clients as needed.




Completes documentation timely and accurately

100% of documentation is submitted by end of shift and is error-free

Completes all mandated training

100% of required training will be completed within specified time frame

Provides quality services in accordance with NMT model and agency policies

Must score an average of 80% or better on Model of Care skill assessment

Maintains neat work area

Classroom inspections will receive a score of 98% or better

Adheres to TCI protocols for restrictive interventions (RIs)

Performs RIs according to TCI protocols as indicated in monthly supervision; will not have any corrective actions related to RIs

Attendance:  Has minimal occurrences of unscheduled absences or lateness

No more than 5 unscheduled events per year

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE  Must meet requirements for a Para/Associate Professional.  Experience in child mental health and/or day treatment preferred.  Familiarity in MS Office applications preferred.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES   Age specific competency for children and adolescents, competency in the Administration of Medications, Working with Mental Health Population through utilization of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Love & Logic, Life Saving / Safety to include First Aid and CPR, Blood Borne Pathogens and Infection Control.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS  Completion of Teaching Family Model training  or Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training (provided) Beginning I, Beginning II, Intermediate, Advanced and all other center provided training.  Valid Driver's license.

LANGUAGE SKILLS   Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write to a prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to groups of children, managers, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in situations with little standardization.
