Outreach Coordinator- The Relatives- Charlotte, NC

Interested in an opportunity with a leading organization in Charlotte, NC?  Alexander Youth Network is looking for a human service professionals interested in an opportunity as a Outreach Coordinator at The Relatives Crisis Shelter, one of the programs offered by The Relatives, Inc. .B.A./B.S. in Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field is preferred or equivalent.  Two years minimum experience in public speaking, marketing, or administration preferred.  Proficiency in MS Office applications and data entry are required. 

The Relatives is an affiliate of Alexander Youth Network. The mission of The Relatives is to keep kids safe, families together, and prepare youth and young adults to be healthy, productive, and engaged members of the community. The Relatives serves young people who are experiencing crises due to homelessness and family discord, as well as those who have aged out of our public systems and lack the skills and support necessary to function as independent and productive adults.


There are three components that make up The Relatives: The Crisis Center, The On Ramp, and Journey Place. Through our crisis center, we provide a safe place and supportive resources for youth 7- 17 who often have no other place to go. Our On Ramp program works closely with young adults 16-24 years old, to help develop and implement comprehensive strategies to ensure success during their transition from youth to adults. Our newest service, Journey Place provides a semi-independent environment for young adults who have aged out of foster care to fully develop the essential skills required to live successfully as adults.

SUMMARY:

The Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for building awareness and support throughout The Relatives' service area of the programs and services that The Relatives provides, and the benefit to the community of The Relatives' presence and approach.  The goal of this awareness is to increase awareness of valuable resources to kids and teens as well as to establish new Safe Place partnerships in the area. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  •  Conduct presentations and information events to community groups such as churches, civic groups, professional groups, networking groups, local businesses, and others to ensure awareness of The Relatives and programs/services offered.
  •  Conduct street and partner outreach activities to increase access and utilization of services for transition aged youth
  •   Serve as liaison to Safe Place partners to ensure adequate training, updates, equipment, and engagement with The Relatives 
  •  Secure and train new Safe Place Partners
  •   Maintain appropriate documentation of program outreach activities, as well as Safe Place database management and annual site visits
  •  Manage invoicing system for the program; ensure timely annual dues collection
  •   Assist program and advancement team with coordination of program and Safe Place related events
  •  All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

B.A./B.S. in Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field is preferred or equivalent.  Two years minimum experience in public speaking, marketing, or administration preferred.  Proficiency in MS Office applications and data entry are required. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.  Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.  Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
